MEET SARAH, A LEVEL 2
MEMBER OF FLOCK
Each week, we are shining a light on one of the brilliant people who make up FLOCK. Our members come from all walks of life, with different backgrounds, goals, and levels of experience, and that is exactly what makes this trail running community so special.
Tell us your name and a little about yourself?
My name is Sarah, I am 45, proud dog mum. Live in Bognor Regis. I have been running for around 11-years, mainly road for the first 7-8. I used running to help get through a divorce, and the aftermath, and now I use it to help with my anxiety, as well as loving it, for being outside.
How long have you been trail running with us?
About 2-3 months.
What is your running background?
Mostly road. But I did Sam’s ‘How to trail run’ workshop in 2018 after discovering a love for being off road.
How did you feel before your first FLOCK run?
Excited, I was doing a Level 1 with my partner who is currently doing Couch to 5k, and I know how Sam (FLOCK) is a good teacher, so I was excited to attend.
What has been your biggest challenge so far in your running journey?
The hills. It’s very flat where I normally would run.
What are you most proud of since joining FLOCK?
ALL OF THE ABOVE!
How has your confidence changed over time on the trails?
Yes, I feel more confident with hills, but also more accepting, that my times maybe slower, due to the hills, and it’s ok to walk if / when needed.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of our trail running community?
The community, and exploring new trails in the surrounding area.
Do you have a favourite trail running memory, route, or moment?
The one from the Partridge Inn, probably as it was my first FLOCK experience.
