Ahoy there me hearties!

This July we’re turning the South Downs into a real-life treasure hunt.

Pirate Treasure Trails is a members-only adventure challenge running from 1st July to 31st July. Join the hunt, unlock 4 secret trail routes (4K–10K), and track down 4 hidden pots of pirate treasure (jars of pirate coins) across the South Downs National Park, West Sussex.

Here’s how it works

JOIN THE CREW

Members-only entry is £20. Register to secure your spot on the hunt — we’ll email you with the password to unlock the secret routes.

UNLOCK THE MAPS

Get access to 4 secret trail routes (5K–8K) hidden across the South Downs. Run them solo, or buddy up with a fellow pirate.

FIND THE TREASURE

Track down the 4 coin jars, snap your victory photo and collect your prize: Gift vouchers for guided runs or workshops.

Got questions?

Do I need to be super fit to take part?

Nope. The 4 routes range from 5K to 8K and you can do them at your own pace, on your own schedule. This is about adventure and fun, not speed.

Can I do the routes with a friend?

Yes — and we encourage it. You can hunt solo like a rogue captain or buddy up with a fellow pirate for extra confidence and laughs on the trails.

What if I can’t complete all 4 routes?

That’s totally fine. You can do one route and still enjoy the challenge. If you do manage all 4 by 31 July, you’ll qualify for the prize — but there’s no pressure.

How do I get access to the secret routes?

Once you register, we’ll email you manually with the password and a link to the members-only page where the 4 routes (and GPX files) are listed.

How do we share photos without giving away the treasure location?

Easy: share the moment, not the map. Please don’t post what3words, map screenshots, or detailed hints. A selfie, muddy shoe-shot, or coin-jar victory pic is perfect — then re-hide the treasure exactly as you found it for the next pirate.
